Found out when I got new tires for the FoST that 3 of my OEM wheels were bent. I don't know exactly how it happened since I've never smacked a curb or anything with it, but I do live in Houston and pothole are just a fact of life here so one of those may have done it. Anyways, regardless of the why and how, they had to be replaced. So here's what I chose:
18x8 (OEM size) Sparco Pro Corssas. I think they look pretty darn good on the car....though they do have me wanting to lower the car now too :-/

They're already on the car, had them put on yesterday...or did you mean lowering it? Cause that won't happen for a bit, want to finish working on the Miata first before I tear into this thing.

That looks good, dude. Was playing around the other day on tirerack with their preview function to see what would work. You nailed it.

Yes, but this way if something breaks I still have a way to get to work while I wait for the replacement part. Now, granted, it's a pretty simple job to put lowering springs on a car and nothing should be able to be broken, but that safety net would still make me feel better.

You had your OEM rims get bent from potholes and you didn't go down to 17's?
They look good though.

Great choice! Def lower it. Did you try to put in any road hazard warranty claim before going aftermarket? I am not sure the extent of the coverage on the ST.

Eh, wasn't worth the hassle, plus I don't have a specific incident to refer to so my case would be really weak.

I had already bought the new tires for the OEM wheels when I found out they were bent, otherwise I would have.

All three bent? Sounds like BS. Did you get a look at the wheels and had a tech show you the bend?

You weren't able to return them? or was it a time issue?

Well, they look far better than OEM. Keep the remaining good wheel as a full width and speed rated spare and use your spare as you spare-spare.

Yup, saw all 3 with my own eyes. 2 were fairly minor, but one was pretty significant.

Fun fact, the ST actually comes with a full size spare! Well, it's a 17, but it's the same OD with the tire as the others, and is the same width too I believe.

Time was the issue, as was my patience.

Ah, well at least you were able to find nice ones at short notice. Are they lighter than stock?

Not by much, but yes Stock wheels are 25lbs, these are 23.7lbs, so a bit lighter, but not like going to a set of RPF-1's or something.

That's my hope too :-/ it's money I'd rather throw at the miata, or use for a vacation, or any number of other things.

Speaking of smacking curbs... This morning I slid sideways into one. Glad I had my steelies on, looks to be no damage and I was only going about 5 mph.

mine came with a 16" spare wheel. I believe the tire is sized 215-55/16 continental. 2013 sts had slightly smaller brakes with more aggressive pads.

I've got a '14, I'd need to check the size on the spare to see what the exact size is, but it's not a donut at the very least!

somewhere halfway through the year 2014 the build changed

Hmm, I know mine was an early '14 build since I bought it near the end of 2013 as a 2014 ym. So, it may very well be that I've got the same spare you do.
